Abstract
The article is devoted to the establishment of the role of journal articles in the modern society, the leading feature of which is media. In existing classifications, the number of allocated subspecies of articles with specific features varies from three to seven. The popular science articles covering a wide range of problems in the field of the environment, education, medicine, politics, economy, culture, are presented in the framework of the popular media discourse and are addressed to non-professionals. Analyzed texts are an effective means of cognizing the world.
