Abstract

The article continues the discussion of the problem of developing the scientific basis for locating federal universities and national research universities in the country, based on the principles of regional (spatial) economics. The goal is to achieve the economic optimality of their placement. It is proposed to calculate the potential of urban systems, and not to model the search by university agents for maximizing the system-forming effect.
