Abstract

The given article is devoted to the indirect speech act of reproach and deals with the structural, semantic and pragmatic peculiarities of the tactic of indirect disapproval “Call yourself X!” in Russian, German and English literary texts. The linguistic analysis is based on the strategic approach to the communication and includes transmitting the speaker’s intention of reproach/indirect disapproval through fixed phrase schemes. Special attention is given to the phenomenon of enantiosemy and to the discourse markers such as particles and interjections.
