Abstract


This article examines the use of Latinisms in contemporary French media discourse. Latinisms are analyzed as linguistic units that perform specific functions in media texts: ensuring terminological precision, achieving brevity, and lending credibility and stylistic nuance to messages. Using specific examples from news publications, the article explores the main functions, semantic fields, and grammatical features of Latinisms in contemporary French media discourse. It is concluded that Latinisms, despite their foreign origins, are integral and functionally effective elements of the language of the French press.
