Abstract

The article is devoted to the approach to literary translation suggested by A. Berman. Berman’s deforming tendencies of translation have been analyzed. The conclusions have been made concerning the inevitability of these tendencies in the translation process and the importance of reducing their ethnocentric influence on the translated text to preserve its cultural identity.
