Abstract


The article deals with linguistic features of Mexican gastronomic code as a reflection of national identity. The peculiarities of the gastronomic code are studied using cultural and linguistic analysis of lexical and phraseological units, as well as the semantic field method. The research demonstrates that this linguocultural code conveys national identity through realia words, etymological features of the lexicon, the unique structure of the semantic field, as well as through culturally specific symbols, concepts and values embedded in lexical and phraseological units.
