Abstract


The article considers the meaning of the system of non-verbal signals, signs, gestures that are used by representatives of different cultures in interpersonal communication. Body language is an effective means of communication that demands proper understanding and interpretation. Not all non-verbal signals are innate and universal. Most of them should be taught and learnt in order to achieve mutual understanding in the process of communication.
