Abstract

On the basis of Georg Heym lyrics the transformation of the classical sonnet in German expressionism is analyzed and the mobility of the selected verse genre in the historical aspect of its development is considered. In particular, the influence of expressionistic creative techniques of the line break, the simulative principle of depicting reality, the elimination on the structure and content of the canonical sonnet is observed. Georg Heym’s contribution to the discovery of the potential resources of the classical form in the nonclassical content reflection is confirmed.
