Abstract

The article aims at substantiating a view on translation mismatches as a tool in information war. Such mismatches are qualified as purposeful semantic distortions of a source language text in its translation versions. Such translation discrepancies are motivated by a translator’s ideological approach and ultimate aim. The author makes use of translation versions of articles made by the Russian service translators of authoritative English media sources for their comparative analysis with original texts.
