Abstract

The article presents an analysis of the primary ways of functioning of farewell formulae used in electronic mails in the German-speaking world. It has been established that the most frequent farewell formulae are those that contain a lexical unit Gruβ (Rus. привет, приветствие). In addition, a specific farewell formula is chosen based on the relationships between the communicators with certain status and role characteristics.
