Abstract


This article is devoted to the research of approaches for translating anthroponyms in gaming and computer texts and the difficulties faced by translators. The purpose of the study is to analyze the methods applied for translating anthroponyms while localizing the game “Skyrim”, as well as to summarize data on the techniques that were used in the translation of the proper names. The author of the article mentions some extra ways that can also be used for localization, but are not particularly popular. A total of 904 anthroponyms were analyzed. The results of the study can be applied in training manuals on the practice of translation and localization of games.
