Abstract
The article highlights the linguistic nature (structure and semantics) of elliptical sentences as an independent structural type of syntactic constructions: structurally incomplete, but semantically self-sufficient sentences. They show structural similarities to two-part incomplete sentences, but they differ. The specific features of elliptical sentences are considered, distinguishing them from two-part incomplete ones. It is recommended to study these syntactic structures in the Russian language school course.
