Abstract

Pragmatic adaptation is a mandatory component of simultaneous interpretation as it serves the purpose of cross-cultural communication. The article presents the results of the studying how generalizing as a means of pragmatic adaptation is impacting the quality of simultaneous interpretationfrom Russian into English at the panel session of the Russian Energy Week. Taking into account the cognitive load that the interpreter experiences during the interpretation process, it shouldbe studied how high-quality interpretation is achieved at international conferences, when differences between languages and cultures are also complicated by the use of highly specialized terms and concepts.
