Abstract

The article presents the results of a study of the lexico-semantic field “Finance” in the original text of T. Dreiser's novel “The Financier” and its Russian translation by M. Volosov. The main attention is paid to the analysis of the structure of the lexico-semantic field “Finance”, the allocation of nuclear, central and peripheral zones. The comparative method, as well as contextual analysis and quantitative calculation are applied. The results obtained allow us to continue studying the selected lexico-semantic groups in order to determine the frequency of use of financial-oriented lexemes and determine the method of their transfer from English to Russian in literary texts.
